There is so much to say about this man and his photography accomplishments, I'm not really sure where to start. If he knew I was finally starting a web site for both our photographs, he would be very proud and excited. The images he leaves behind are amazing, phenomenal, life changing, wonderful and spectacular. Photographs of world changing News Events, Presidents, Prince's, Singers, Songwriters, Actors and everyday people.

He was born in Honolulu Hawaii and moved to California at an early age. AK Roberts came to Hollywood in his early 20's, to take acting classes and pursue the film industry. Eventually he worked as an Actor in several movies, commercials and music videos, but found himself more often behind the camera, taking photographs and "fell in love" with the Nikon.

In 1974 he captured on film an attempted abduction in a Hollywood parking lot, a tense drama that ended in the death of the assailant. Not only was AK Roberts credited with saving the victim's life, but his series of imagines, first published in the Los Angeles times, won him the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography and the Sigma Delta Chi award. He was a longtime freelancer for Time and People magazines and the associated press. He covered many key event's, such as Nixon's resignation and the capture of Patty Herst. He also worked as a still photographer for film and television with CBS and ABC networks. He photographed album covers for musicians such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Ravi Shankar, David Allan Coe, Lane Brody and others.

As a young child, Moana was raised around cameras. She helped her father on professional shoots loading film and carrying his equipment. "I remember many times my Dad and I would be in some beautiful outdoor setting or on location of a photo shoot and he would quiz me on what f-stops and speed combinations I could use".

Moana has always enjoyed photography and has worked several years as a staff photographer for the New Mexico Sun in Albuquerque and The Desert Arts Calendar in Palm Springs. In the summers, her love for the outdoors found her working as a Ranger for the National Park Service and the US Forest Service. The National Park Service bought several of her rock climbing photographs and today is permanently on display in the visitor's center in Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming. Snow skiing has always been a passion for Moana and after college she decided to make skiing her winter career for a while. She worked as a Ski Patroller at several resorts and became the Professional Ski Patrol Director at Northstar-at-Tahoe ski resort. During that time Moana produced several Ski Patrol training videos and started her own video production business.

Throughout the years, Moana found that lots of friends would ask her for photographs and before she knew it, friends of those friends wanted them too. Now with the new age of digital cameras and software development, Moana has found herself drawn more often behind the camera. After working the "seasonal" lifestyle, Moana had the opportunity to accept a full time job with the Truckee Fire Protection District and today is a full time Fire Captain/Paramedic. "With my fire department schedule, I have more time to dedicate to my photography and video productions then ever before without feeling pressured to make a living but to do it because I enjoy it".

Today Moana photographs family/group portraits, custom homes for businesses, international travel and sporting events. She also is a Videographer, Producer and Editor working with local businesses on several Public Broadcast Productions.
